January Frostbite Ride/Walk

We had a mild day for a ride -- hard to believe it's January! Ethan, Ed and Tam headed out together for breakfast at the Wenham Teahouse -- It was Ed's first time back on a bike since 2009! Welcome back, Ed!

We picked up a rider for a few miles through Beverly before turning off on 1A. Taking the back roads through Wenham down to Larch Row's rolling hills, we made our way to the teahouse. The temps were in the mid 40s with no wind, but the fog kept the air raw and damp, making it feel a little chillier. (Breakfast at the teahouse was good but slow.)

We had a terrific ride home until we hit the Beverly-Salem Bridge. Ed's chain dropped on the bridge and jammed into the bike pretty hard. The two guys spent some time trying to free the chain but it just wouldn't budge. The three of us ended up walking the bikes together for the final stretch to the Salem Common, with Ethan singing off key for part of the way. It was a great ride, despite the chain malfunction. Nice to have Ed back on the bike!
