Fidelity Gran Prix of Beverly, 7/11

Can't make it to France to watch the Tour? Check out competitive racing nearby at the Fidelity Gran Prix of Beverly, this Wednesday, July 11th. The action begins with the Amateurs race at 4:30, followed by Masters (35+ Men) at 5:20, and Elite Men State Championship Race at 6:35pm. (Hmmmm... wait... no WOMEN?)

Complete details can be found on their website at http://granprixbeverly.com or on Facebook by clicking here.

Unfortunately yes, no women. Women only make up about 10% of USA Cycling Membership. To put on a women's event at Beverly would cost us between $1800-$2000 becaue at best we would get 25, maybe 30 women. We can get 75-100 Masters racers.

We consulted with several women racers and then worked with the Salem guys - Salem will host the State Champ for Women.

Oooh... great explanation, Paul! Thanks! Despite the low # of women in USA Cycling, the WOMEN RULE the Cyclopath rides lately, outnumbering the men... minus myself for the nest few weeks since I crashed last week. Hope you have a GREAT event tomorrow. It sounds exciting.
