Bike Lane Advocacy

Carl has a tentative appointment with the Marblehead Board of Selectmen the evening of February 9th to discuss bike lanes in Marblehead. He is looking for a handful of cyclists to join him. Most of the major streets in Marblehead have sufficient pavement width for both dedicated and shared bike lanes. Carl is doing the homework needed to ask the Board to seek information from a traffic engineering consultant to put lanes on the section of Pleasant Street, (which the town recently studied for redesign), as well as Atlantic Avenue and Lafayette Street. Painted bike lanes might achieve traffic safety improvements at a much lower cost. If interested, please contact Carl at
