Profile of the Week - Ellen Gutermuth

Year you joined the Cyclopaths: The first time was 2000, then a rebirth in 2006.
Claim to Fame: Triathlete, and Cape Cod Mike’s wife!
Favorite ride on the North Shore: Anywhere you guys take me!
Favorite Breakfast Spot: See above!
What bike do you ride?: Specialized Ruby.
Has Drew named your bike?: Not yet.
Brief cycling background: Started riding in 1999 to do triathlons. Although I do remember saving money to buy a bike as a kid. I ended up getting a new Free Spirit 10-speed for my Bat Mitzvah.
What was your worst day on the bike? The Tri State Century in September 2007. At mile 50 I got cramps in both quads, locked up solid. I could not move and was in a lot of pain. Mike and Lynda had to get me off the bike and DRAG me to the side of the road. Magically (or so it seemed) ice and Endurolytes appeared while Mike massaged my quads. Also my best day on the bike, because after about 30 minutes I went and rode the next 50 miles to finish the century. It wasn’t pretty but I got it done.
What is your favorite bike food? Bananas and oranges.
Most likely to say: "Suck it up Buttercup!"
Least likely to say: "I quit!"

Happy Birthday, Ellen!
