Best Wishes to Erica

While finishing up Day 1 of this year's PMC, Mike and Lynda were reminded of what a small world we live in. After regrouping at the last waterstop, Lynda mentioned to Mike and Donna that she wanted to stop along the route and say hello to her friend and "pedal partner", Erica, a co-worker fighting cancer. (Sheldon was already en route to Bourne.) As the threesome came across Erica and her Mom (holding up a sign for Lynda and the North Shore Cyclopaths), Mike was surprised to discover that Erica was someone he knew quite well--as a former co-worker at Wolf and parishioner at his church. It was quite a special moment when they made the connections. Erica is on her way to becoming cancer-free, and plans to ride the PMC when she is stronger. Go Erica!

Thanks for posting this - that was a very special day for us! To see her full of energy and sporting a big smile made my weekend shine! The visit time was worth the time spent having to ride in the rain. And it was a very big surprise to find that Mike and Erica knew one another!

Chris, Erica's husband, I believe is planning to ride the pmc next year, and will probably be riding with us on Saturdays to train for it.

We're supposed to go out to dinner and bowling soon, and I'm sure that our better halves are going to be kicking butt while we try our best not to gutter-ball too much!

Mike would also like to share the following, written by Chista's friend, Marie, the night before the PMC

----

To the “Cyclopaths”:

I would like to express some personal feelings and thoughts regarding your purpose both as a group and as individuals.

I feel moved by your care and dedication for each other and for the thousands of people across the nation, most of whom you do not even know. Friends and relatives of the cancer patients must also feel moved by your active care. What a wonderful support! There comes a time in everyone’s life when words are not enough; when it is necessary to see the care.

You have strengthened my will and resolve. My heart goes out to you all.

May God bless you richly.

Most sincerely
MARIE V. PIPER

P.S. You have been a great inspiration! Your generous spirit is so appreciated, more than words can adequately express. Thank you!
