Pedal for Parkinson's Ride Report

A near perfect summer Sunday greeted about 40 riders for the first annual Pedal for Parkinson's ride benefiting The Davis Phinney Foundation, sponsored by Bay Road Bikes in Hamilton, MA. While most riders (including Cyclopaths Lisa, Brian, and Lisa's sister) opted for the 52 mile route, another group took the 32 mile option. Most had a great time on a well-marked course, although there were a few wayward souls who didn't quite get the mileage they had planned.

After everyone safely returned to Hamilton, there was a cookout sponsored by Bay Road Bikes and a raffle for all riders, with each rider receiving 1 ticket for every $50.00 raised or donated. (Prizes included autographed riding jerseys and 7-11 Team memorabilia, a set of Mavic Ksyrium wheels, and a TomTom navigation system.)

So far, donations and pledges are approaching $5,600.00 for this event. Donations are still being accepted at www.davisphinneyfoundation.org (Click on "Support a Pledge Ride" at the site and search rides for Pedal for Parkinson's or search riders for Bruce Kapsten). A great ride for a great cause. --Bruce
