2005 PMC Check Presentation

There was nice turnout of Cyclopaths joining Sam, Sheldon, Av and Bill (and their wives and families) at Saturday's PMC check presentation. For all that they've done, it was nice to see these great men recognized by Billy Starr and our fellow PMC riders. Following a brief presentation by Billy, and a heartfelt speech by Dana Faber President, Edward J. Benz, our entertaining leaders each took their turn at the podium. Their comments were sincere, poignant and funny - like a typical Saturday morning ride - and true to the great individuals that they are. Thanks Av, Sheldon, Bill and Sam for your amazing leadership and inspiration!

Of the event, Michael Kelleher writes:

Yesterday the "4 Wisemen of the Cyclopaths" proudly presented their perspective of their PMC journey, all initiated by the efforts of Brenda White. It was quite an event, culminating with the check presentation of $23 million - Wow - Just to note:
  • Without Sam Zoll there might be no Mass Maritime?
  • Sheldon Brown biked at his own pace - really??
  • Bill Cantor was the enforcer to collect late pledges!!
  • And Av Hammer was "faking" his efforts on the Truro hills as Laurie and he peddled tandem!!
We all should be extremely proud of our efforts, in whatever capacity we engage, and remember those who are enduring their own personal and very difficult challenges. Our prayers are with them and their families.
Congratulations to all PMC riders and volunteers, (and the wives, husbands and families who support us). Saturday's check presentation to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute for $23 million dollars was quite impressive.

Hopefully we'll have photos of the event posted soon!
